Our warranties explained - In plain English.
We have a lot of people asking us questions about our warranties so it's a good idea we clear some misguided information about them. If you didn't read it from this page it's not true.
What are lifetime warranties and what do we offer them on? Good question!!
Lifetime warranties are offered on much of our SCR range. Our SCR range is products that hold our logo and are manufactured to our own standards. These include and are limited to A/N fittings, Steering wheels, Race Seats (inc FIA), Wheel spacers & Radiators, Intercooler, Intercooler piping & Universal piping. We exclude turbo's because of the amount of wear and tear people put on these and how many things can go wrong (e.g grit going through the turbine or not enough oil to the turbo).
What does this lifetime warranty cover?
The lifetime warranty covers absolutely anything structural. That means if a steering wheel ever breaks a weld (this has never happened btw), a wheel spacer produces a hairline crack or a silly customer tightens it way too much and threads the bolt, an A/N fitting triggers a leak, a radiator starts to leak or anything else that might go wrong is all covered. For life! The greatest thing about this is --you don't need a receipt-- and you don't need to be the purchaser. It's just covered without hassle. That's it.
What doesn't a lifetime warranty cover?
Anything cosmetic. For example, leather does wear out. A leather steering wheel with daily use has about a five-year life if you want it to look pristine. A suede steering, on the other hand, is made for max GRIP and they do wear out and run smooth. F1 racers change their suede wheel after every race. As a rule, you should be changing suede on a racecar more than you change your oil. Anyway, this kind of thing is cosmetic and isn't broken.
So what about our other warranties?
So all other warranties are all covered by a six month, 2 years or 5-year warranty depending on what it is. Any products not listed above basically have standard warranties on them. These warranties must come with a receipt. Sometimes by email or your sale may be in our system and we can track it for you. Take note we recently swapped over software and anything before 2017 is gone! You are responsible for finding one if we cannot but we will try our best to track it down with you. For the actual warranty, this process is different. Normally we will send the product away to a 3rd party to be assessed before any warranty can be issued. And this normally takes 1-2 weeks.
Refund or replacement?
As stated we will replace any lifetime warranty product with or without a receipt. Though if you want a cash/eftpos refund you must have the receipt. This stops people buying something second hand, breaking it and coming in for cash.
IN SUMMARY: If your lifetime warranty product breaks anytime we'll replace it (or refund it)
Most of the time its the customers (installers) fault. Hold on.....what??
A case study: A customer named Peter came to us and bought an SCR320 turbo for his daily Nissan Safari TD42. Peter brought only the turbo from us and not our turbo line kit and dropped it off at his trusty mechanic. His mechanic assured him "I've installed 100s of turbo's, I know exactly what I'm doing". Well, the mechanic didn't. And shortly after the turbo seized and Peter came back to us for a warranty. After investigating it turned out the mechanic installed the oil line to the alternator (not the best place for it), pointed the line kit up (restricting easy oil flow) and used an oil line about the size of a baby's straw! Totally oil deprived the turbo seized. To be clear: Turbo's need a ton of oil! So Peter obviously was pissed at his mechanic and bought a new turbo off us (discounted of course), our turbo line kit and installed it properly into the sump. 100,000km later running high boost no issues what so ever. He was so impressed he got three of his mates to buy the same setup and ended spending another 4k with us.
Verdict - We always test our limited warranties out. Most of the time any issue is from dodgy work. But anything genuine we always back the customer up.
